August 2018

It’s been a very busy summer trying to bridge the gap between our grants, current fundraising dollars, and the cost of the bids for construction of the park.  We are forever grateful to all of our Friends who continue to support us through the ups and downs of getting the Scituate Dog Park built.  Whether we’re collecting at the Transfer Station or in our booth at Heritage Days, so many of you stop by to say hello, inquire about the status of the park, and to donate.  Your continued support keeps us going.  Thank you!

We’re looking forward to our 2nd Annual Howl-oween Fundraiser this October 20th at The Barker Tavern.  Thanks to Scituate’s own, Amity Noble of Dogs Go Hiking, this event will feature South Shore favorite, The Aldous Collins Band!  If you haven’t heard of them, check out the August edition of South Shore Living or, better yet, come see them at our event. You won’t be disappointed.

Putting on this event wouldn’t be possible without the hard-working, enthusiast team of volunteers that joined our Fundraising Committee this spring.  To date, they have brought in Gold Sponsor, Driftway Animal HospitalSilver Sponsor, Arthur and Susan Dauwer; and Bronze Sponsor, The Village Market; plus countless raffle and auction items that are sure to bring in big biscuits (err, I mean, bucks).  If you or your business would like to be a Sponsor for this event, please visit our Sponsorship page for more information or contact Lisa Huffman at 781-556-5373 or scituatedogpark@gmail.com.

Lastly, we are thrilled to welcome our new Secretary, Susan Dauwer.  Sue got involved with the Fundraiser last year and provided some wonderful gift baskets and a fantastic design sense when it came to decorating The Barker.  We are so glad she’s now become a permanent member of our team.

Enjoy these fleeting Dog Days of Summer and we look forward to seeing you at the Howl-oween Fundraiser.  Please visit our Events page to order your tickets.
